Dawn Lundy Martin poems are kind of out of place. But before her poem "Violent Rooms" it is a quote that says by Danielle Collobert " I can't do poetry. I don't know what it is." it represents that her poetry does not have a meaning. Readers might get a different understanding from it. Poetry does not have a specific structure or anything. Anything can be considered poetry. It has no definition.

Like in the poem violent room the first part was about child birth. In the poem it says " urgent flex peels off the steady layers. A girl, I say. Girl GU-ERL. Quell.". Then the second part of the poem talks about violence. It says " the wound is puncture. Blood-faced" which represents that her p[oems can be talking about anything and the readers could have no idea of what she is talking about but poetry is what you make it.

Overall, poetry is what you make it. I feel as if her effect of poetry is all over the place just to let people know that poetry has no specific definition. You can make poetry anything long as if its your idea, your writing, your story. Poetry is unique!
